2011 Selfridge Air Museum Opening Day Work Party for LH02

Shipmates, 4AP11

I wanted to share with the VP-93 Alumni Association about our successful, April 2 Opening Day, LH02 Work Party. Under cool (46 degrees) but sunny and dry weather

23 enthusiastic volunteers got LH02 ready for the 2011 season. Accomplishments were;

Cleaned the props.

Cleaned and Amour All’d the tires.

Vacuumed the inside of the aircraft.

Pulled down the Tactical Station Plexiglas, cleaned the Plexiglas and all the station equipment.

Cleaned all the Flight Station Equipment and windows.

Cleaned the boarding ladder.

Installed rain gutter over the Main Cabin Door. This will really reduce the water entry.

Repainted the exterior mooring lugs.

Cleaned the Sono Package and Galley. Significantly reduced the loose gear in the Galley area.

Rewired the AC power distribution. Upgraded the plug, socket and wire to supply AC power to LH02. This should eliminate blown circuit breakers when the lights and both fans are running. Also added an external outlet at ground level (for picnics) and an AC outlet in the Forward RADAR cabinet.

Of course the high light of any work party (and after work party) is the lunch, with refreshments, coordinated by Ann Marie Federici (with help, of course). Of note,Cindy MacKool’s chili disappeared in a hurry.
